DAY 1 - BOSTON-INT. STOP-MALAGA: Depart Boston's Logan Airport aboard our transatlantic flight for Malaga, Spain (with an intermediate connecting flight). Complimentary meal and beverage service available aloft, as well as stereo headsets.
DAY 2 - MALAGA-TORREMOLINOS: Arrive in Malaga, Spain where we will be met by our motorcoach and tour escort for our transfer to Torremolinos on the Costa del Sol. We will check-in to the 4-star Hotel Cervantes (or similar), which is adjacent to the beach and close to the local shopping center. The remainder of the day is at leisure. Dinner and an orientation meeting at the hotel this evening. (D)
DAY 3 - RONDA: Following breakfast, we are off on a full-day excursion to Ronda, which is situated on a rocky precipice in the Serrania de Ronda mountains. Here, kings and nobles have sought out the peacefulness of the mountains and the incredible views of the river from the heights of the walkways. We will visit the Church of St. Maria la Mayor, the Ronda Bullring, the oldest in Spain and the home of modern bullfighting, and the Don Bosco House. We will have lunch in Ronda at the Restaurant Escudero. Return to Torremolinos for some leisure time prior to dinner. (B, L, D)
DAY 4 - GRANADA: Today, we will be escorted on a full-day trip to the center of Islamic splendor in Spain, Granada. Here, in the capital of Spain's last Moorish kingdom, we will visit the most outstanding example archetecture of the period, the Nazari Alhambra, the fortress of the 13th century ruler, Al Ahamar. We will also visit the Water Gardens of the Generalife (the Royal Summer Palace) and the Royal Chapel. Lunch in Granada will be at the Restaurant Puerta Elvira. Return to Torremolinos for dinner and overnight. (B, L, D)
DAY 5 - SEVILLE: This morning, following breakfast, we head off for our full-day tour to the Andalusian capital of Seville! We will visit the Cathedral (the largest cathedral in Spain and resting place of the remains of Christopher Columbus), the Reales Alcazar (originally built by the Moors in 1181 and modified in the Mudejar-style after the Castillian conquest), and the Barrio de Santa Cruz (a labyrinth of alleys, shops and balconied houses with a distinctive charm). Lunch in Seville will be at the Restaurant Meson Cabildo. Return to Torremolinos for dinner and overnight. (B, L, D)
DAY 6 - GIBRALTAR: Following breakfast, today's full-day excursion takes us to the British isle of Gibraltar. We will enjoy a sightseeing tour of this famous rock fortress and hear about its turbulent history. Points of interest on Gibraltar include: the Upper Galleries, the Moorish Castle, St. Michael's Caves, and, of course, the colony of Barbary apes. Lunch on Gibraltar will be at the Restaurant La Marina. Return to Torremolinos for dinner and overnight. (B, L, D)
DAY 7 - MALAGA-TOLEDO-MADRID: After breakfast, we will check-out of our hotel, and drive to the capital of the Costa del Sol - Malaga! We then head north through the beautiful Andalusian countryside to the central Spanish plain and Toledo. Here, we will visit the Cathedral (famous for its Gothic architecture, Mudejar decorations and 750 stained-glass windows), Santo Tome (a 14th century Mudejar-style church) and the Sinagoga de Santa Maria (Spain's oldest synagogue). Lunch in Toledo will be at the Restaurant Cigarra Monterey. We then continue-on to Madrid for hotel check-in and dinner at the 3-star Hotel Zurbano (or similar). (B, L, D)
DAY 8 - MADRID: Following breakfast, we will be hosted on a morning panoramic sightseeing tour of the Spanish capital of Madrid. The most prominent stop on our tour will be at the Prado Museum, which houses one of the most complete and valuable collections of paintings in the world! Its works include masterpieces by Velazquez, Raphael, Titian, Van Dyck, Rubens, Goya, Murillo, El Greco and many, many others. Lunch is on our own and the remainder of the day is at leisure for some last minute shopping, independent sightseeing or just to relax. Dinner and overnight in Madrid. (B, D)
DAY 9 - MADRID-INT. STOP-BOSTON: Following breakfast, we will transfer to the Madrid Airport for our
return flight (with an intermediate connecting flight) to Boston. Complimentary full meal and beverage service while aloft. (B)
